$3,550 USD per person. In Japan, accommodation and dining are priced per person rather than per room, so there is no discount for couples sharing. Your price includes four nights in a private room at a 4-star oceanside hotel, all scheduled meals with drinks (including alcohol), all session activities, and private chartered transportation during the salon. Travel to and from Karatsu is not included.

Not at all. Prairie and our team translate everything, from the chef's kitchen to the pottery studio.

We're sorry, but we can't accommodate vegan, vegetarian, or other strict dietary restrictions or preferences. Our meals are built around what we forage each season and are prepared by local chefs and family kitchens, so they can't be adapted individually. We'd rather tell you now so you can decide with full information.

Yes. Drinks, including alcohol, are included at all scheduled meals.

We do some walking on our gathering days, along country lanes, streams, and the shore. It's a gentle pace and not strenuous.

Not really. Foraging here means gathering wild shoots and greens, and walking at an easy pace. If you have concerns about mobility, tell me and I'll be honest about what to expect.

Comfortable sneakers are fine. For streamside or seaside gathering, we provide boots.

After you book, you'll receive an arrival guide with packing tips and everything you need for your journey to Karatsu.

Salons run Monday through Friday. Please arrive in Karatsu between 3 and 5pm on the Monday your session begins, when we open with a welcome dinner.

Guests arrange their own travel. Fly into Fukuoka Airport or take the shinkansen to Hakata Station. Karatsu is about 80 minutes by train from Fukuoka. If you'd prefer a private car, your arrival guide includes contact details for a trusted car service you can book directly. We're also happy to advise on the best route from where you're coming.

Yes. It's especially worthwhile with a non-refundable deposit and international travel.

Choose your session from the Catalog and then scroll down until you see the "Reserve your seat" button. A non-refundable deposit of $1,800 holds your place, and the balance is due 60 days before your session begins. There are only seven seats per sesssion, so I recommend booking early.

Yes. Late bookings are welcome if spaces remain and rooms can be secured. Just get in touch and I'll let you know.

Deposits are non-refundable, but with at least 60 days' notice I can apply your deposit toward a future session.
