SAKURA
SEASON
MARCH 29—APRIL 2, 2027
Cherry trees stand in full regalia, each path a corridor of petals. Here, beauty is brief, collective, and celebrated — a season that reminds us how to savor what will not last.
In an intimate masterclass, we explore bon-tate and shitsurai — two refined rituals that shape atmosphere and attention. From arranging interiors that echo the season’s mood to serving tea with grace and intention, hospitality becomes a form of art.
Each meal honors Japan’s microseasons — fleeting flavors gathered, celebrated, and savored while they last. More than ingredients, they are moments in time: expressed on the plate, felt on the palate, and cherished in memory.
From private meals that celebrate Japan’s fleeting micro-seasons to hands-on encounters with master craftspeople, you’ll experience the richness of Mirukashi in its most personal form. This is not simply a trip, but an immersion — a chance to taste, create, and dwell fully in beauty, together.
ARRIVAL
Travel to Karatsu, in the northwest corner of Kyushu, a little over an hour by train from Fukuoka Airport or the shinkansen station. Unpack, exhale, and ease into the rhythm of the days ahead.
Welcome
We’ll gather at the Salon for a welcome dinner, beginning with a seasonally infused Mirukashi original cocktail. From there, fresh flavors flow and new friendships take root — the adventure begins.
A perfect Picnic
In the Mirukashi kitchen, we’ll shape jewel-like temarizushi — vinegared rice orbs topped with translucent slices of tai and the bright green kiss of kinome leaves from the sansho trees. Each one a bite-sized poem to the season.
WHERE FLAVOR ORIGINATES
A picnic in the countryside, where all flavor originates. After our picnic, we’ll linger — unhurried — for a quiet ceremony of matcha and sweets, a moment of stillness and savoring beneath the open sky.
Evening Gathering
We dine in a residential restaurant run from the chef’s own home, where the boundaries between kitchen and table gently dissolve. The evening unfolds slowly, shaped by the quiet intimacy of a meal shared among friends.
MASTERCLASS
In an intimate masterclass with a wagashi artisan we’ll shape and taste traditional Japanese confections. Rooted in centuries of history yet enlivened by inventive flavor pairings from around the world, each sweet becomes both homage and innovation.
Seminar
Learn the thoughtful art of seasonal interiors. Cultivate sensibilities that attune your home to nature’s rhythm through intentional arrangements that echo the subtle poetry of time.
MASTERCLASS
Learn the quiet art of bon-tate — tabletop tea ceremony. A refined ritual that brings presence to the everyday. Cultivate grace, precision, and intimacy through the deep beauty of attentive hospitality.
Evening gathering
Set within a farmhouse, the meal reflects a quiet conversation with the landscape. Garden vegetables and freshly caught fish find their way to the table, creating a meal that feels grounded, personal, and shaped by place.
CULINARY HERITAGE
Each dish reveals a stage in the tofu-making craft, transforming the humble bean into art. Deepen your palate and perspective as the quiet brilliance of Japan’s shokunin — artisans who devote their lives to mastery, is illuminated.
ARTISAN Atelier
Step into the pottery atelier for a rare and exclusive glimpse. Watch as she brings clay to life with her signature throwing techniques. As vessels take shape beneath her hands, she reflects on form, function, and the poetry of everyday objects.
Workshop
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll practice nageire flower arranging flowers to showcase their natural lines with ease and spontaneity. Each fresh and spontaneous arrangement feels alive, as though the flowers were still growing in the field.
Farewell meal
We gather at the Salon for a final dinner, shared family-style among people who now feel like kin. The table feels like home — a relaxed evening of conversation, laughter, and food that brings the season and session to a gentle close.
Where the season sets the table, one last time.
Departure
Wake up to one last seaside sunrise. Today you leave with more than memories. Because the real souvenir isn’t something you pack — it’s the quiet shift within you that lingers, long after you’ve left.
