TEA
HARVEST
APRIL 20—24, 2026
The tea harvest is near. Everywhere, new growth surges — tea leaves, wild herbs, tender shoots, ready for picking. This is the season of ease, suspended between spring’s awakening and summer’s abundance.
Through the lens of tea, culture is revealed — heritage and ceremony, craft and invention. On an intimate estate of heirloom tea trees, we’ll harvest, roast, steep, and sip the season’s first leaves — tasting tradition at its freshest.
Each meal honors Japan’s microseasons — fleeting flavors gathered, celebrated, and savored while they last. More than ingredients, they are moments in time: expressed on the plate, felt on the palate, and cherished in memory.
From private meals that celebrate Japan’s fleeting micro-seasons to hands-on encounters with master craftspeople, you’ll experience the richness of Mirukashi in its most personal form. This is not simply a trip, but an immersion — a chance to taste, create, and dwell fully in beauty, together.
ARRIVAL
We’ll gather at the Salon for a welcome dinner, beginning with a seasonally infused Mirukashi original cocktail. From there, fresh flavors flow and new friendships take root — the adventure begins.
FORAGE & COOK
We’ll begin in the Mirukashi kitchen to make dashi — the broth that forms a quiet foundation. Then we’ll step into the hills and fields to collect wild shoots and tender greens, returning to transform them into a lunch alive with seasonal flavor.
ARTISAN Atelier
Step into the pottery atelier for a rare and exclusive glimpse. Watch as she brings clay to life with her signature throwing techniques. As vessels take shape beneath her hands, she reflects on form, function, and the poetry of everyday objects.
Workshop
From powdered matcha to sencha’s green brightness, from roasted hōjicha to the surprising depth of kōcha, we’ll learn the finer points of whisking, steeping, and savoring four distinct expressions of the tea plant.
masterclass
Guided by a master dedicated to preserving this rare craft, we’ll hand-pick the season’s first leaves of heirloom zairai tea trees, roast them in a wood-fired kettle, and taste teas unlike any you’ve known before.
Tea ceremony
The moment is shaped by season, expressed through flowers, poetry, and painting, all gathered into the graceful choreography of tea-making — a living embodiment of Zen philosophy and the beauty of impermanence.
A perfect Picnic
Back in the Mirukashi kitchen, we’ll shape jewel-like temarizushi — vinegared rice orbs topped with translucent slices of tai and the bright green kiss of kinome leaves from the sansho trees. Each one a bite-sized poem to the season.
WHERE FLAVOR ORIGINATES
A picnic in the countryside, where all flavor originates. After our picnic, we’ll linger — unhurried — for a quiet ceremony of matcha and sweets, a moment of stillness and savoring beneath the open sky.
carry it home
Wake up to one last seaside sunrise. Today you leave with more than memories. Because the real souvenir isn’t something you pack — it’s the quiet shift within you that lingers, long after you’ve left.
Salon sessions run Monday through Friday. Plan to arrive in Karatsu between 3–5pm on the Monday your session begins. We’ll open our time together with a welcome dinner that evening.
